Budrio is a municipality in the second metropolitan belt, bordered to the north by the municipality of Molinella, to the east by the municipality of Medicina, to the south-west by the municipality of Castenaso, to the west by the municipality of Granarolo, to the south by the municipality of Ozzano, north-west with the municipalities of Baricella and Minerbio.
It is crossed by the Provincial Roads "San Vitale" and "Trasversale di Pianura", from the Bologna-Portomaggiore railway line managed by FER, which is scheduled for next electrification. The territory is also served by a bus network.
The capital is 18 km from Bologna, the historic center is characterized by arcades that connect the squares and the main streets. In the countryside it is still possible today to read easily the constituent elements of the ancient Roman centuriation.
The main waterways that cross the Budriese territory are the Idice stream and the Fossano and Quaderna canals, which run on the flat territory consisting of medium-textured, clayey and sandy soil.
